Intel 8088 That Started the PC Revolution

8088 is a microprocessor that came some time after the 4004. It actually came after the 16 bit microprocessor 8086. Though it is similar to 8086 internally, the 8088 had an 8 bit interface to the outside world. IBM turned that into an advantage as 8 bit support and peripheral chips offered a wide and cheap option.
