I recently upgraded my Linux installation to the latest OpenSuSe 11.2 release and then decided to install the free version of the Oracle database (Oracle-XE). The installation of the Oracle database on Linux is relatively simple, but at the end I was not allowed to access the database Home page, which should be easily accessed from a web browser. This article describes my experiences with the installation and a solution that allowed me to complete the installation successfully and access the Home page through the Web browser.
