iPod touch 3rd Generation is exactly as advertised. A wonderful music player, with the apps making it so useful for many other things. I am still torn on the whole “this is a computer” comments I see out there, it is incredibly useful…but in the end it isn’t a computer and the apps to get it to a certain point (as a computer) are very expensive relative to the usefulness on this small product.
I would still recommend iPod touch 3rd Generation to someone else. It is fun device and with the variety of apps you can customize it to whatever uses you want…including music player. Although when looking to iTunes for music….buyer beware….prices are essentially astronomically high.
The one big con for me is the battery life….if you use the wifi and/or use it regularly (during the day) with apps, it is just way too short. Seems OK if you use it for music only….but….still not good. I guess I will be looking on Amazon for an extended battery that I can use and still remain portable.
One last comment….I am fairly new to the whole iTunes/App store, but searching with graphics on an iPod is a nightmare. Looks good, but it would be nice to have some customization available for displaying and searching.

iPod touch 3rd Generation – Great iPod!
I recently upgraded to this iPod touch 3rd Generation from a 1st Generation Nano. The new iPod touch 3rd Generation is amazing! It’s fast, it stores tons of music and videos, and has it well organized. The ability to download and use apps is very nice!
I love being able to take TV shows with me on the go, and I seeing the album art on the songs I’m playing. The battery life on this is pretty solid. There was also a free app I downloaded that will tell me approximately how much time I have left based on the current battery level.
There are rumors that Apple will shortly release a version of the iPod Touch that comes with a camera. I wish mine had a camera…but I probably won’t be able to afford upgrading whenever that comes out. C’est la vie!
The only cons I have seen are:
1) The WiFi internet connection can be spotty. It’s fine at home, or at some restaurants, but just out-and-about it doesn’t have consistent internet. Perhaps if I had a 3G phone that could generate a WiFi hotspot, I’d be fine.
2) Many of the Apps in the Apple store are designed for iPhones. These will utilize functionality (such as constant internet or the camera) that are not applicable to the ipod, but the App store doesn’t differentiate between the products when purchasing.
