ICS coming to Samsung Galaxy Tabs 101, 89, 77 and 70 Plus starting in July

Ice Cream Sandwich has been in the cards for Samsung’s older Galaxy Tabs for a while, but impatient owners can soon wind down their foot tapping: the rollout date is indeed on the horizon. According to SamMobile, Android 4.0 will make its way to the Galaxy Tab 10.1, Tab 8.9, Tab 7.7 and Tab 7.0 beginning in July. Yes, that’s next month — though the site clarifies that most devices will see the switchover in August. If you’ve held out this long, what’s a month or so more, right?

MSI unwraps Slider S20 hybrid tablet with Windows 8 (hands-on)

MSI Slider S20 hands-on

MSI is well-known for showing tablets at Computex — it even showed what amounts to the same tablets at two different shows. It’s certainly shaking things up this year, however, with the Slider S20. We’ve seen hybrid tablet PCs before, but the Windows 8-toting S20 has a fairly slick tilting mechanism that locks the 11.6-inch touchscreen at an angle, turning the slate into a pseudo-laptop right on the spot. MSI is only willing at this early stage to mention a few key details, but it’s promising at least one Slider S20 variant with a properly speedy low-voltage Ivy Bridge chip as well as 4GB of RAM, Bluetooth 4.0, HDMI and USB 3.0. Our friends at Engadget Spanish got an early look and found the tablet a bit chunky with a so-so display, but also thought that it looked like a “robust” design. Check our overseas companions’ first impressions for more, and know that the Slider S20 is expected to reach Europe in September at €899 ($1,121) in its full Ivy Bridge glory along with a lower-powered model at €799 ($996).

Denon teases new SC2900 DJ controller and media player, hopes to get heads spinning (video)

Denon teases new SC2900 DJ controller and media player, hopes to get heads spinning

As the world of digital DJing offers those who spin increasingly individual configurations, there’s still a dedicated crowd who like to keep it strictly “ones and twos.” Denon hears this, and is hoping to snag some of those faithful with its latest SC2900 DJ media player. From the tease video (after the break) it looks like it’s pitting itself against Pioneer’s CDJ900 and CDJ2000 models. There’s a 7-inch platter (Denon’s first without a motor,) jazzed up with LEDs for cue and marker points. This can be used to get hands on with CDs (audio and MP3,) USB drives, music direct from the companion “Engine” software (i.e. hosted on a Mac or PC,) and shared media from other compatible networked players. Other goodies include four hot cues, native support for Traktor (and other) DJ software over MIDI, a “slip mode” made popular by the CDJ900 for keeping tracks in the mix even when scratching, and library browsing via iPad (though we’re not sure if it’s anything more than that). Pricing and availability should get played out soon, in the meantime you might want to start boning up on those old DMC routines.

We’re liveblogging Sony’s E3 2012 keynote, tonight at 9PM ET!

The PlayStation 4? The Vita 2? Pipedreams for E3 2012, perhaps, but Sony’s surely going to put on a show, as always, with this year’s E3 press event. A Vita price cut seems like it might be in the cards, to help reinvigorate interest in the company’s portable. We’ll probably also be getting some more insight into the SOEmote for EverQuest II — and, of course, games, games, games. Want to join in on the action? Follow along here at 9PM ET.
